NetJets Aviation
NetJets Aviation is an American company owned by Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway and run by chairman and CEO David Sokol. It is the world’s largest private jet company, with a fleet of over 650 aircraft.
NetJets was founded in 1964 as Executive Jet Aviation and later renamed NetJets Aviation. In 1998, it was acquired by Richard Santulli’s Wright Express which became a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway.
The company began as Executive Jet Aviation (EJA), a private air charter service based at Meigs Field in Chicago that was purchased by Gerald W. Lynch and Thomas K. Duane in 1964 for $1 million.
The pair changed the name to “Executive Jet Corporation” and moved its headquarters to Columbus, Ohio. In 1965, the company started flying passengers from New York to Washington D.C., where they were met by limousines for transportation to their final destination.
By 1967, EJA had grown to include three DC-9s and two Hawker Siddeley HS 748 turboprops. In 1979, EJA was purchased by William Pearsall’s investment group who changed its name to NetJets International Ltd.
After several years of losses, the company was sold in 1986 to Richard Santulli, then a Massachusetts-based financier. He moved the company from Ohio to New Jersey, raised $50 million from Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch, and expanded its fleet to 25 aircraft.
Santulli formed NetJets Inc. as a subsidiary of his holding company Executive Jet Aviation Incorporated in 1995 with William H. Toner III as CEO. The holding company was renamed Executive Business Jets Incorporated in 2002 when it became publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol EBAY.
In November 2005 NetJets agreed on a deal with Airbus for the acquisition of up to 100 aircraft worth $8 billion.
The deal included an option for 50 more planes which would bring total orders to 150 planes at list prices of $12 billion. In February 2006, NetJets acquired Executive Jet Management, a private aviation company based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

VistaJet aviation
VistaJet is a global business aviation company with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. Founded in 2004 by Nicholas von Almen, VistaJet offers private jet charter flights to over 1,800 airports worldwide.
